Yes we do.
A brief summary of my main conditions are as follows, starting with the the most obvious to the most deep rooted and profound:
- Anxiety / Depression
- Complex PTSD
In my experience LOVE manifests from unconditional ACCEPTANCE.
The saying that ‘I love my children unconditionally‘ is nonsense, unless that LOVE exists for all things. Otherwise the love is conditional on the object of our affection, in this instance, that of the child or children.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that our western society is very sick. We are often quick to judge others without first considering our own morality. We all undoubtedly have skeletons in our closets. It appears that only the wisest, maybe the bravest, amongst us are able to have the grace and humility to recognise this fact and act compassionately towards others.
Ignorance maybe bliss, but it does not foster ACCEPTANCE, LOVE and COMPASSION.
This is why I thought I’d post this TEDx video from a highly regarded sex addiction therapist, Paula Hall at the end of this post. She trained under Dr Thaddeus Birchard, who is one of the top sex therapist in the country.
Sex addiction is a very destructive disease. I’ve been in recovery from Sex Addiction for just over 2 years now and have 9 months of total sobriety from my bottom lines and 2 years from my worst behaviours. See what you think and leave your thoughts in the comments below.
Thanks for taking the time to read this article. I hope you find the below talk insightful.
